Lavernette ‘Granit’ Brut Nature
Gamay Blanc de Noirs
Leynes, Beaujolais, France NV
Chateau Lavernette is a situated in a pretty magical spot. The land was originally purchased by the family from monks in the late 1500’s and sits right on the current border of Beaujolais and Burgundy. It boasts both the legendary granite soils of Beaujolais for their Gamay vines and the Limestone soils required for great Pouilly Fuisse. Truly, the best of both worlds. The estate was the first in the area to transform to organic viticulture, the newest generation, Xavier and Kerrie, have taken things one step further by converting to biodynamics in 2010. This rare unicorn of a sparkling wine is very limited and has yet to really gain the attention it deserves, so get on board while you still can.
