Trapl ‘Carnuntum Weiss’ * Carnuntum, Austria 2017

$21.00

Pineapples, Passionfruit and Green Apple with a spicy edge not unlike a great young olive oil. Finishes long and tart with a kiss of fresh picked peppermint. A true guzzler, but with complex weight that can hold up to a meal as well… If it somehow lasts long enough to cook.

Trapl ‘Carnuntum Weiss’
Carnuntum, Austria 2017, Organic
Pinot Blanc 60% + Grüner Veltliner 30% + Welschriesling 10%

Johannes Trapl founded his winery when he was just 25 years old. He is a true champion of his region located along the Danube near the border of Slovakia and within the Little Carpathian Mountains made of limestone and schist, it is proving to produce extraordinary wines with elegance and minerality. This particular wine is a crazy balancing act of grapes and vessels that is simply stated as “white” on the label. Aged in a combination of stainless steel, oak and amphora, creating a deep range of texture, the blend of grape varieties does the same for the flavor. The Weissburgunder(Pinot Blanc) gives the weight and fruit, the Grüner the acidity and spice, and the Welschriesling brightens up the aromatics.
