Meet the Team

Hello. We are the scene behind this scene. A grand mix of Wine anthropology and Creative Design. A hubaloo of daily quests and celebrations. A team of truly silly but serious wine nerds, one bottle, one day at at time.

KEVIN WARDELL
Kevin is the Sommelier and Wine Director of Bergamot Wine Company. He has a passport full of stamps and a penchant for really good food, and wine is always with everything, like breathing. He is perpetually seeking out, discovering and experimenting with new wines. He says it’s the prominent acid and lower alcohol combined with food friendly pairings that has drawn him to focus on the Old World, and more specifically Italian wines. His wine bar Bergamot Alley celebrated both, with a Wine Club and monthly educational classes.

Kevin’s first step out of college was working for MTV as a Music Producer. He was lured West via the Rockies, managing restaurants in Aspen, Co and finally making San Francisco his home base. He thrived within his Italian Wine education under the tutelage of Shelley Lindgren at A16 (San Francisco); he then worked as Wine Director at flour+water (San Francisco); in-between shifts he worked four harvests at Unti Vineyards (Dry Creek Valley, CA); and one harvest at Mt. Difficulty (Central Otago, NZ). Most recently he owned and operated Bergamot Alley, an Old World Wine Bar and Wine Shop in Healdsburg, CA, a haven for winemakers in the heart of Wine Country (2011-2018). He closed the bar in 2018 to launch the amazing Italian Wine Club you see before you. He is dedicated to varietally correct wines, absorbing stories, respecting culture, and celebrating all the Rock Star winemakers across Europe that are making absolutely amazing juice.

SARAH WARDELL
Sarah is the Creative Director and Administrative Force behind Bergamot Wine Company. She has a passport full of stamps and a penchant for really good pens, and art supplies are always with everything, like breathing. She is perpetually seeking out, discovering and experimenting with new mediums. She say’s its the process of transformation from tactile to 2D that draws her focus as an Art Director. Her wine bar Bergamot Alley was an amazing hub of community shenanigans and creative chaos.

Sarah’s work path includes myriad stops; as a photographer for crazy sports in Switzerland; as a dispatcher for a heli-ski company in Park City, UT; as a freelance Graphic Designer and Creative Project Manager in Portland, OR before relocating to Sonoma County and opening Bergamot Alley with Kevin. She is dedicated to thoughtful typefaces, bold artwork, is a minimalist with filters and always starts with pencil on paper.
