Anne-Sophie Dubois ‘l’Alchimiste’ * Fleurie, Beaujolais, France 2016

Boysenberries, Pink Peppercorn and Pencil Shavings (a classic marker of the local Granite.) Rainier Cherries and a bouquet of Violets.  A sublime example of how Cru Beaujolais can simultaneously be both incredibly complex and casually enjoyable. This, as is the case too often with great Gamay, is just so damned good and ready to drink now (better have a second bottle on hand, trust us) it is easy to forget just how well it would age, if one had the willpower to let it.

Anne-Sophie Dubois ‘l’Alchimiste’
Fleurie, Beaujolais, France 2016, Organic
Gamay 100%

Born in Champagne, trained in Volnay, Anne-Sophie may still be considered an ‘up and comer’ in Beaujolais but her ambition and approach are generating top results. She is fastidious in the vineyards first and foremost. Healthy fruit from a biodiverse vineyard and without and use of chemicals is the start of great wine, in fact, Anne-Sophie will say a great wine is already 80% made before it is even picked. We’ve been a fan and follower of her wines since they’ve landed in the states and each year is better than the next.
