Bodegas Monje ‘La Hollera’
Tacoronte-Acentejo, Tenerife, Canary Islands 2017
A wildly distinct wine from an equally distinct landscape. Charred red peppers and smokey pomegranates. There is a strong presence of freshly ground black pepper to accompany the blueberries and blackberries on the mid palate. You’re left with an intriguing bitter citrus rind flavor that can easily, and with great delite, be compared to Campari. This wine is fermented semi-carbonically so although it has plenty of complexity, it finishes quite clean and free of any tannic bite.
